  • Registration of Yayoi Kusama Artworks

    The Yayoi Kusama Artwork Registration Program (the “Registration Service”) is operated by YAYOI KUSAMA Inc. The purpose of the Registration Service is to record artworks that are recognized by YAYOI KUSAMA Inc. (the “Company,” “we” or “us”) as artworks by Yayoi Kusama and to enable confirmation of the originality of registered artworks. A Yayoi Kusama Artwork Registration Card (the “Registration Card”) will be issued for each registered artwork and you can inquire with the Company if the artwork you have matches our record by providing registration number (the “Registration Inquiry”).

    Please ensure that you fully understand the Registration Service and Registration Inquiry, and agree to the terms of use of the Registration Program before using the service. We ask that you read the following terms of use of the Registration Program before submitting an application or inquiry.

  • Terms of Use of the Yayoi Kusama Artwork Registration Program

    • Applications for the Registration Service may be submitted only by the owner of the artwork or an agent with written authorization from the owner.
    • The Company accepts applications for the Registration Service and Registration Inquiry only when all required information has been submitted. Applications without the required information will not be accepted.
    • We cannot respond to inquiries regarding works that are not eligible for registration, such as prints/editions, merchandise, noncommercial items, or commemorative goods.
    • The Registration Card indicates that the artwork was registered on the date the card was issued.
    • The Registration Card includes only information necessary to identify the artwork.
    • The Registration Card is not a certificate of appraisal or a document proving the value of the artwork. Regardless of the content of the Registration Card, the Company does not guarantee the market value, materials, production date, or any other characteristics of the artwork.
    • The Company does not disclose registration information to the public.
    • The artwork information (including images, details, and provenance) obtained during the process of the Registration Service may be used by the Company and its group companies, including the Yayoi Kusama Foundation, for publications, exhibitions, educational and outreach activities, and the collection, conservation, investigation and research of Yayoi Kusama’s works.
    • Registration of an artwork does not transfer copyright or other rights to the artwork or its images to the applicant. Unauthorized use of images may constitute copyright infringement. If you wish to use images of the artwork, please request approval in advance.
    • The Registration Inquiry is a service that verifies whether the features and registration number of the image submitted by the applicant match our records. It is not a service for authentication. You may not treat the result of the Registration Inquiry as an authentication or equivalent assessment.
    • All responses regarding the Registration Service and Registration Inquiry will be provided only by email. Please note that we do not issue written reports or provide support by telephone.
    • Please do not forward, make public, excerpt, or alter the content of emails from us. In such cases, we do not make any guarantees regarding the content.
    • We will not become involved in any disputes between customers, including purchasers of Yayoi Kusama artworks.
    • We do not accept applications from individuals or entities associated with organized crime or other unlawful or anti-social groups. The applicant and owner of the artwork represent and warrant that the submitted artwork has been lawfully and appropriately acquired.
    • In addition to the above, we may decline the Registration Service or decline to respond to a Registration Inquiry in the following circumstances if:
      • You do not agree to these Terms of Use.
      • You violate these Terms of Use.
      • You engage in behavior causing trouble or inconvenience to us, our staff, or other users of our service.
      • You do not agree to or comply with the application instructions.
      • Submitted information contains false information.
      Please note that we generally do not disclose the reason for declining to respond.
    • We handle personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act in Japan and our privacy policy.
    • These Terms of Use may be revised from time to time. These Terms of Use and their revised versions will also apply to former applicants of the Registration Service under earlier versions.
    <Please keep your Registration Card in a safe place together with the artwork.>
    • We have updated the Registration Card design, however, previously issued cards remain valid for Registration Inquiries.
    • If you wish to replace your old Registration Card with a new one, you must return the old card. A handling fee and shipping costs will apply.
    • If you have lost both old and new Registration Cards, please contact us by email for reissue. If you wish to request reissuance, you will be required to follow certain procedures. A reissuance fee will apply.
    • Registration Inquiry is provided free of charge. However, if the information provided does not match our records, a fee will be charged.
